New Spa Set to Open in Westminster

Salon Silverado at the Brighton Pavilions offers customers a cozy environment for facials, manicures, massages and more.
Breathe easy. Spas are in vogue throughout the Metro North Region, and a major one will open soon in Westminster.
One of the more popular existing spas is Salon Silverado at the Brighton Pavilions, which features everything from manicures and pedicures to physician-administered Botox injections. Owner Liana Carlson tests each product on herself before introducing it to her customers.
“I’ve traveled to top spas in Hawaii, Mexico and Tahiti and brought the best ideas and products into my business,” she says. “For example, the oils we use for massages are only available from Bora Bora. They take about six weeks to get here by shipment.”
Carlson says everything about her salon is relaxing. “Even treatments such as laser hair removal, photo facials and spider-vein injections are done in a comfortable setting,” she says. “All technicians are highly trained, and we offer all aspects of personal care under one roof.”
Meanwhile, the city of Westminster is making big news in the spa world. Rocky Mountain Chopra Center & Spa is scheduled to debut in the Westminster Promenade at the end of 2007. The $11 million complex will incorporate the philosophies of Deepak Chopra, an internationally known physician, philosopher and speaker on the topic of health, body and mind.
“The two-story center will include 17 treatment rooms, three medical doctor offices, a yoga studio, meditation room and an athletic workout facility,” says Tim O’Byrne, president and chief executive officer of Westminster Promenade Development Co. “The first floor will be the robe section for massages and treatments, and the second floor will be the shorts-and-T-shirts section for workouts, yoga and meditation. There will also be a small restaurant on site.”
O’Byrne says guests typically will visit the spa for several days, staying five or six nights next door at The Westin Westminster, a four-diamond hotel.
“In a typical situation, a customer might come in for a medical evaluation on a Friday, stay at the Westin for an entire week, and have the Chopra doctors devise a complete fitness and wellness program,” O’Byrne says. “The program might be specifically for weight loss, post-cancer treatment, detoxification, body toning – there will be many options.”
O’Byrne says customers will first undergo medical examinations and blood tests so that doctors can put together an ideal wellness regimen.
“Our guests will learn to reduce stress, take charge of their overall health and embrace lifetime habits that promote wellness,” he says. “Women – and men – will come from all over the world to visit this center and spa.”
