Colorado Rapids Soccer Gets a Home
Published Apr 17, 2008

For 10 years, the Colorado Rapids Major League Soccer Club played without a stadium to call home. But that changed in April 2007 when the new Dick’s Sporting Goods Park opened nine miles northeast of Denver in Commerce City.

The $131 million, 18,000-seat stadium with 24 soccer fields is the new home of the Colorado Rapids and doubles as a venue for outdoor concerts, international games, Colorado’s largest 4th of July fireworks show, festivals and other sporting events.

Soccer star David Beckham made his first public appearance in Colorado at the park in July 2007 for the MLS All-Star Game. The facility has also hosted the Chinese, Mexican and Columbian national soccer teams.
